HOW TO GET GAS CHEAP
If you want to know how to get gas cheap, free is about as cheap as it gets.
Next time you’re not sure what kind of gift to give, try a gas gift card. It’s a gift that’s guaranteed to be used and, these days in particular, it’s almost universally appreciated.
It’s probably not a good idea to give your spouse one for an anniversary present, though.
Still, it really is like getting free gas.
When anyone asks what you want for that next special occasion gift, you can ask for the same thing. It sure beats a purple and pink piece of - - - art.
Most service stations and oil companies have gas gift cards. And most credit card companies also have debit gift cards available. While not specifically gas gift cards, they can be used for gas, or just about anything else.

FREE GAS OFFERS
Okay, maybe you’re thinking that a gift of gas is a nice gimmick, but what about the real free gas offers you hear about?
You can get the lowdown on free gas offers at
Scambusters
. If you go to
Rip Off Report
and enter ‘free gas’ as a search term, you’ll also get a number of eye opening reports.
There are some legitimate ways to get gas cheap through free offers. Resorts may offer something like a $25 or $50 gas card if you spend time with them. Other local businesses may offer varying amounts of free gas if you use their products or services.
And some car dealers are offering gas in amounts up to a one-year supply when you buy a new car; you do still need to negotiate for the best price and terms, though.
The dollar value of the gas offer will always be on par with other sales incentives. And accepting a ‘free’ gas offer often means that no other coupons or discounts will be applied to the transaction. Those kinds of offers may be a way to get gas cheap, but it won’t be free. And you could be better off using other offers that might available.
In fact, none of the legitimate offers shown here are really free. Someone has to pay for that gas, and the customer always pays for it in the end. Otherwise the business goes broke.
There are also a few businesses that will pay you to put advertising on your car. How much they pay depends on how many miles you drive and what kind of car you have. But that isn’t really free gas; it’s a business proposition.
Except for a gift from family or friends, whatever the source of a free gas offer you need to use good judgment and always look for the catch.
